What are binaural beats and why do headphones matter?

Binaural beats are used for sleep, meditation, relaxation, and focus. Each ear receives a slightly different tone, and your brain hears a phantom rhythm, or binaural beat, matched to your chosen state to help guide you there.

Headphones keep the two signals separated, which is why they are important for the binaural effect.

What makes Sonibral different?

Most binaural beats give your brain a single pair of tones to follow. Sonibral builds a richer field of binaural overtones that continually evolve in real time, giving the brain more beats to lock onto while keeping the sound musical and alive.

When music is playing, the binaural synth becomes part of the composition itself, forming an evolving tonal foundation while remaining adjustable as you listen.

Move a control and you can hear the engine glide, shift, and reshape itself without stopping.

That is what living binaural beats means.

Brain States

Sonibral continually shifts the binaural beat within established brainwave-state ranges, using the same evolving movement that shapes the rest of the engine.

Sleep — 0.5 to 4 Hz

The slowest range. A natural choice for winding down, resting, or preparing for sleep.

Meditate — 4 to 8 Hz

Slow and inward. Suited to meditation, breathwork, or quiet listening.

Flow — 8 to 13 Hz

A more open, active range for creative work, reflection, or relaxing without getting sleepy.

Focus — 13 to 23 Hz

The fastest preset range, intended for reading, working, or other activities where you want to stay alert.

Music and Soundscapes

Music and soundscapes are optional layers around Sonibral’s live binaural engine.

Music is composed specifically for Sonibral and designed to work with the synth underneath it. Soundscapes add environmental textures such as waves, wind, rain, and birdsong.

You can change or remove either at any time.

Tap the selected music piece again to explore its poetry, composer notes, and artwork credits.

Sonibral generates and processes its audio in real time. Music and soundscapes are included in the app so they can be transformed live and played without interruption, even offline.

Ambient Mode

Ambient Mode transforms the current music and soundscape with slower playback, reverse movement, and increased reverb.

Timer

Open Timer to choose a session length. Free includes unlimited 7-minute sessions. Premium unlocks custom and infinite sessions.

Presets

Open Presets to capture the sound you’ve built in Sonibral so you can return to it anytime. Presets save everything that shapes the experience except the timer.

You can load a preset, keep exploring and update it later, or rename, review, and delete it.

Roll the dice to discover a new sound. Randomization options let you lock Music, Soundscape, or Settings to keep them unchanged. Expand Soundscape or Settings to choose which categories or controls can change.

Randomized sounds are temporary until you save them. Your randomizer choices are remembered separately and do not affect loading a saved preset.

Settings

Settings contains deeper controls for the binaural synth, including Binaural Overtones, Binaural Pattern, Binaural Beat Range, Soundscape Color, playback speed and direction, and other sound shaping options.

Open Settings and turn on Help for descriptions while you experiment.

Use the dice to explore your sound settings without changing music or soundscape. These randomization options are independent of Presets. Lock controls you want to keep; Binaural Beat Range stays unchanged.

Use Restore Defaults whenever you want to start over.
